The latest data from Statistics Canada shows that tuition costs are rising across Canada, with an average cost of $6,834 for an undergraduate student for the 2022/2023 school year.

Everything from base tuition to books and lodging has gotten more expensive, which has pushed many students to pursue a side hustle or search for an online job to make extra money.

If you’re looking for the best online jobs for students in Canada that are also flexible, then you’re in the right place!

Below, I’ll show you some great online job options that will fit into your busy school schedule and allow you to earn some money on the side.

Table of Contents

What Are The Best Online Jobs For Students?

It can often be hard to balance work with your studies. When I worked as a waiter during college, I would work full-time through my summer break and switch to a part-time schedule once I started classes up again.

It was one of the few jobs that offered the flexibility of hours I needed to keep up with classes.

The internet is a game-changer for students , though.

There are a plethora of online jobs for students that don’t require any college degree and often pay as much as (or more than) traditional post-college careers.

For example, a creative freelancer with no college-level education or diploma can earn anywhere from $20 to $40 per hour by applying skills they can learn for free on YouTube.

Other online jobs could involve starting your own small online store or working a part-time virtual job for hourly pay.

As a student, you should look for the following characteristics in an online job:

  • Flexibility of schedule (so it doesn’t interfere with your school)
  • Learning opportunity
  • Something that you can apply your major to (if possible)

If you have an eye for trends, know how to find a great deal, or you’re a seasoned thrifter, then reselling items online is a great online side hustle for students to consider. I have a friend who’s managed to turn their hobby of selling old Hot Wheels cars into a profitable side business.

He goes thrifting for the mini cars, finds rare models, and then sells them on eBay to collectors for way more than he bought them for.

If you’re a talented musician or have an otherwise valuable skill to share with the world, then you can start your own paid social media group using a platform like Patreon or Discord.

You can start offering it as a free service and then slowly start charging a monthly fee as the group becomes more popular.

I have a friend who started a Patreon for her acoustic guitar tutorials, and now she earns an extra $500 per month from her subscribers. All she has to do is post a few in-depth tutorials to the group and respond to questions from her group members.

How many classes can I teach at SNHU?

In most cases, adjunct instructors may teach 1-2 courses per term with up to 10 course assignments per academic year allowed.

What is the process for teaching assignments? When will I know I’ve been assigned?

Course assignments are made by our scheduling team, with the guidance of the associate deans. Assignments are made on a term-by-term basis, about 8 weeks prior to the start of the term.

Please note that while we’ll work hard to accommodate scheduling requests whenever we can, we’re not always able to guarantee a regular schedule, or teaching assignments every term.

What do online classes at SNHU look like?

Here’s what to expect from online classes at SNHU:

  • Asynchronous : Students will engage with materials and assignments on their own schedule, while still adhering to course deadlines and requirements. The asynchronous learning setup accommodates diverse schedules and time zones. Courses run 8-10 weeks and include weekly assignments.
  • Class size : Most courses have 25-30 students, promoting interaction and engagement. Some courses, such as writing intensive courses, may have lower course caps.
  • Curriculum : Pre-built courses maintain uniformity in topics, grading and rubrics. This format ensures all students meet program objectives for accreditation.
  • Course Materials : Required textbooks and resources are offered in a variety of forms, including digital textbooks, digital courseware and physical hard copies. These materials are provided for the faculty free of charge prior to the term beginning.

What is expected of me as an online adjunct instructor?

Our students are at the center of everything we do. And our online adjunct faculty are essential in ensuring their success. We do this through:

  • Student Support : Provide personalized, 1-on-1 guidance and support to students.
  • Course Feedback : Offer constructive feedback on assignments and course performance every week, for every assignment. There are typically 1-2 assignments that must be graded every week. Grading must be completed within 7 days of when the assignments are due.
  • Timely Responses : Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Active Online Presence : Engage in the online classroom consistently throughout the week. This is primarily done through the course discussion board. In most cases, faculty are expected to actively engage in every course discussion.
  • Flexibility : Our students are all around the world. That’s why we ask you to accommodate their diverse backgrounds, experiences, schedules and time zones.
  • Effective Communication : Clearly communicate concepts and foster open dialogue throughout the course. This will include weekly course announcements, discussion board engagement, grading feedback and more.
  • Collaboration : Work with advising and academic support teams to enhance student success.
  • Commitment to Student Success : Strive to help students achieve their academic goals.
  • Professional Development : Learn the latest teaching methods and subject knowledge to ensure academic excellence.

How long is an online term at SNHU?

SNHU online courses run on a term schedule .

There are 6 undergraduate terms per year, lasting 8 weeks each, and 5 graduate terms per year, lasting 10 weeks each.

What will be my compensation as an online adjunct? How often will I be paid?

Typically, we offer the following standard compensation:

  • $2,200 per 8-week undergraduate course

Monrovia – The just ended Liberia Investment Forum 2024, which is the first ever to have been held in Canada, has unbundled multiple investment opportunities following the holding of separate meetings by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai,  with some global investors committing to invest in mining, sanitation and infrastructure in the country.

By Obediah Johnson, [email protected]

The forum was recently held at The International Centre in Toronto, Canada, bringing together a diverse group of attendees, including the President Boakai, and prominent Canadian officials such as Arielle Kayabaga, Member of Parliament for London West, Ontario representing the Federal Government of Canada.

Kayabaga is the current Co-Chair of the Global Cooperation Caucus, and the Chair of Liberal Black Caucus.

She is also the Vice-Chair of the Canada-Africa parliamentary Association.

Effie Triantafilopoulos, Member of Provincial Parliament – Oakville North, Burlington, Ontario also attended the forum.

Effie is the Ontario Government Premier’s representation at the Liberia Investment Forum 2024. Effie currently serves as Member, Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs.

According to a dispatch from the Office of Liberia Trade & Investment in Canada, the forum attracted potential investors and sector experts, all eager to explore Liberia’s vast investment opportunities.

Speaking during the forum, President Boakai emphasized his government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for foreign investment.

“Liberia stands at the threshold of a new economic era, and we invite you to join us on this transformative journey,” President Boakai stated.

The Liberian leader also highlighted various sectors ripe for investment, including agriculture, infrastructure, and technology.

President Boakai also held strategic meetings with potential investors outside of the main event.

These meetings were focused on quick-impact projects for economic growth, development and job creation in Liberia.

Both Canadian representatives Kayabaga and Effie expressed strong support for enhancing Liberia’s investment landscape, recognizing the potential for collaboration between Canada and Liberia.

“This forum is a testament to the growing partnership between our nations. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead,” Kayabaga stated.

The Liberian government’s delegation included Jeff, B. Blibo, Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Wilmot Paye, Minister of Mines & Energy, Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, Information Minister, Prince Tambah Sr., Madam Jallahqueena Hawa Konneh, Representative- Liberia Trade and Investment in Canada.

They reflected on Liberia’s high-level commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing economic partnerships with global investors.

Chenkplen Sandy, COO of QE24 Group, delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the significance of the forum.

“The Liberia Investment Forum is more than just a gathering; it is a platform for fostering strategic partnerships and dialogues that can unlock Liberia’s vast investment potential,”

She highlighted the Liberian government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for foreign direct investment, aligning with sustainable development goals.

She also outlined the forum’s focus on key sectors, including agriculture, mining, infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing—areas critical for enhancing economic resilience and job creation in Liberia.

Following Sandy’s insightful welcome remarks, Hon. Jeff B. Blibo, Executive Chairman of National Investment Commission (NIC), took the stage to further elaborate on the forum’s objectives and the unique opportunities available in Liberia.

The discussions that ensued focused on how international collaboration could drive sustainable development and economic growth in the country.

The forum provided a platform for networking, idea exchange, and the establishment of partnerships that can pave the way for future investments.

Attendees left with a renewed sense of optimism about Liberia’s potential as an emerging investment destination.

Participants expressed enthusiasm about the discussions and the strategic pathways outlined for investing in Liberia during the conclusion of the forum.

With the commitment shown by the Liberian government and the active participation of Canadian stakeholders, the Liberia Investment Forum 2024 has set the stage for promising economic collaborations in the years to come.

Many attendees expressed optimism about the opportunities discussed, with several investment commitments anticipated in the coming months.

The office of the Liberia Trade & Investment in Canada (TIC) seated in Toronto, Canada serves as the gateway for the exploration of dynamic trade and investment opportunities between Liberia and Canada.

As a central hub for fostering bilateral economic relations, the TIC, headed by Madam Jallahqueena Hawa Konneh aims to create a prosperous partnership that supports sustainable growth, innovation, and mutual prosperity for the Republic of Liberia and Canadian Investors.
