What is a pronoun.

A pronoun is a word that is used in place of a noun.

Pronouns Worksheets for 5 Grade

The persons of the personal pronoun have three forms. The person who is speaking is called the first person. Means I, my, me, we, our, us. The person to whom one is talking is called the second person. In other words. you, your, your The one who is told is said to be in the third person. That is, he, she, it, they, their, them. The pronoun must match the gender it represents. If the noun is in the feminine, the pronoun must also be in the feminine. Similarly, if the noun is masculine then the pronoun must also be masculine.

  • Masculine:  Jill has a boyfriend. He appears to be a bit of a bore to her.
  • Feminine:  John’s sister likes to eat pizza. She eats it almost every day.
  • Neuter:  We have an old kitchen table. One of its legs is broken.
