The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System . It is almost perfectly spherical and consists of hot plasma interwoven with magnetic fields . [ 12 ] [ 13 ] It has a diameter of about 1,392,684 km, [ 5 ] about 109 times that of Earth , and its mass (about 2 × 10 30 kilograms, 330,000 times that of Earth) accounts for about 99.86% of the total mass of the Solar System. [ 14 ] Chemically, about three quarters of the Sun's mass consists of hydrogen , while the rest is mostly helium . The remainder (1.69%, which nonetheless equals 5,628 times the mass of Earth) consists of heavier elements, including oxygen , carbon , neon and iron , among others. [ 15 ]

Google releases 1,000th Chrome Experiment
To celebrate the 1,000th Chrome Experiment we revisit some milestone projects and demos.
Back in 2009 Google launched its first Chrome Experiment. The Exerpiments drive was intended to showcase the amazing work developers were doing with Standards Based technologies such as HTML5 and JavaScript.
The Experiments project kicked off with just 19 demos. In the intervening years, the community has taken Chrome Experiments to its heart and has contributed some amazing work. And, very recently, the thousandth Experiment has been released.
Experiment #1000
Experiment #1000 is a visualisation of every experiment released. You can explore all 1,000 in a variety of ways, including a real-time code editor and a timeline with selectable tags. Click on the WebGL tag, for example, and you'll see how that technology surged in popularity when it was added to Chrome in 2011.
Site redesign
Along with launching Experiment #1000, the Chrome Experiment site has been redesigned using Polymer. The new site is mobile friendly so scales smoothly across different viewport sizes and orientations.
Here are some Chrome Experiment highlights...
The first Chrome Experiment
WebGL Aquarium is credited as being the first Chrome Experiment. It was released on December 2013, 2010.
The site – which stands the test of time well – lets you immerse yourself in a beautiful aquarium full of fish, sharks and coral. The demo features 3D models, scene animation, hi-res textures, reflections, and lots more JavaScript and WebGL based trickery.
The most popular Chrome Experiment
Launched on 12 May 2011, WebGL Globe is an open platform for geographic data visualisation. It was built by Google's Data Arts Team.
Our favourite Chrome Experiment
100,000 Stars is an interactive visualisation of the stellar neighborhood created for the Google Chrome web browser. It shows the real location of over 100,000 nearby stars

Chrome's 1,000th web experiment visualizes all the others
Google has offered a ton of Chrome Experiments to show what modern web technology can do, but it's doing something special for the 1,000th project -- namely, visualizing all the other projects. The effort lets you browse six years' worth of browser-based art, games and other creative works in multiple ways, including a tag-based timeline and a live code editor. To top things off, Google has redesigned the Experiments site so that it scales properly on everything from phones to desktops. You probably won't have time to explore every single web snippet, but it's worth a visit to number 1,000 if you're wondering what you've missed.

Google Chrome Experiments Launches Their 1000th Experiment
It's a landmark day for Google's Chrome Experiments as they've reached 1000 submissions today. Google has curated a collection of user-made games, art, and creative coding it calls Chrome Experiments. These experiments look like games, but each one uses outside-the-box design and coding to create an entirely unique user experience. Launched in 2009, it started with only a handful of games. Now Google has reached its 1000 experiments! To honor the occasion, they have created a unique way to interface with the entire collection of experiments titled Experiment #1000.
With the new interface, you can sort through all 1000 experiments in a myriad of ways. Try sorting by timeline to get a sense of how the game submissions have changed from 2009 until now. You can sort by highest rated to get a sense of the best crowd-pleasing experiments.
Another reason to check out the new Chrome Experiments site is that they have redesigned it using mobile-friendly Polymer. So if you haven't played around with it in a while, you might want to look again. Now, if you are browsing on your mobile device, it should be completely scalable. You can also sort by the mobile tag to find all the mobile-friendly experiments, so you can explore right away.
There have been some breakaway hits like Roll-it which is a fun browser skee ball game. Be sure to explore the WebGL tag, to experience Chrome's 3D technology. One of my favorites is GeoGuessr, which uses Google Street View to explore real places, and competitors guess their location on a world map for points.

1,000 Chrome Experiments and counting...

In 2009 , we launched Chrome Experiments to showcase the work of creative coders who pushed HTML5 and JavaScript to the limits in order to build beautiful, unique web experiences. At first, the site had only 19 experiments, but we hoped they would be a source of inspiration for programmers who made art with open web technologies. Since then, we’ve been humbled by the quantity and quality of new submissions. Today, we’ve reached a major milestone: 1,000 experiments.
To celebrate, we’ve created a special Experiment #1000 that visualizes every other experiment on the site. You can explore all 1,000 in a variety of ways, including a real-time code editor and a timeline with selectable tags. Click on the WebGL tag, for example, and you’ll see how that technology surged in popularity when it was added to Chrome in 2011.
Along with Experiment #1000, we’ve redesigned ChromeExperiments.com using Polymer . It’s mobile-friendly, so no matter what kind of phone or tablet you have, or how you hold it, the site scales smoothly. If you’re on your phone, you can also filter the list to mobile-compatible experiments by selecting the Mobile tag .
Looking back at the old experiments this month has been a joy. Highlights include Mr.doob’s classic Ball Pool (one of the original 19 experiments), the first WebGL experiment by Gregg Tavares (try 4,000 fish – this used to be very slow!), and Dinahmoe’s multiplayer audio toy Plink , which combines the Web Audio API with Node.js . At Google I/O in 2012, we released the first mobile experiments, including AlteredQualia’s Multitouch Toy and Dominic Szablewski’s X-Type . And each year afterward, new web technologies appeared, like getUserMedia and the Web Speech API . It’s been a wonderful journey.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the site, and most of all to the creators who have shared their work. We’re excited see what experiments you come up with next.

Google Publishes Chrome Experiment #1000
Google’s Chrome Experiments site, which highlights cool, developer-submitted interactive applications that run in the browser, has been online since 2009 — almost as long as Chrome itself has been around. Today, Google is publishing the 1,000th experiment on the site and it’s launching a redesigned version of the site that is meant to showcase Polymer , Google’s web components library.
Experiment #1000 (that’s the official name) is a fun one: it’s a visualization of the other 999 experiments on the site. It’s not just a pointless visualization, though. Experiment #1000 also lets you check out the code for the other experiments and browse them by tags. So if you want to see how WebGL evolved over the years, just click that and take a look.
Unsurprisingly, given Google’s push toward Web Components, the new ChromeExperiments.com was redesigned using Polymer.
If you are feeling nostalgic, take a look at the Ball Pool experiment from 2009. It was one of the original 19 experiments that launched the site. Then compare that to Google’s own I/O 2015 experiment or the ISS Photo Viewer . The web clearly has come a long way since 2009.
