ਨਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਰੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੇ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਅੰਗ ਹਨ । ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਰਬ ਦੇ ਪਹੀਏ ਹਨ | ਇਕ ਦੀ ਘਾਟ ਕਰਕੇ ਦੁਸਰਾ ਪਹੀਆ ਵੀ ਬੇਕਾਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਨਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਰੀ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ | ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿਚ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਅੱਜ ਦੀ ਨਾਰੀ ਹਰ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਰਦ ਦੇ ਮੋਢੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਢਾ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ।

ਅਜ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਖੇਤਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਨਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ । ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਹੁੱਦੇ ਤੀਕ ਵੀ ਨਾਰੀ ਪੁੱਜ. ਚੁਕੀ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਾ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਨਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ । ਰਿਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਮੁਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਨਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਤੇ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉੱਥੇ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਨਾਰੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ, “ਸੋ ਕਿਉਂ ਮੰਦਾ ਆਖਿਐ ਜਿਤ ਜੰਮੈ ਰਾਜਾਨ” । ਜਿਸ ਥਾ ਨਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਉੱਥੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਅਸਫਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।

ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਰੋਲ ਨਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਪੂਰਨ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ | ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਤਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਦੀ ਪੋਸਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਤਨੀ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰੀ ਦੇ - ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਧ ਚੜ ਕੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਟਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਸੱਚੀ ਨਾਰੀ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਭੋਜਨ, ਕੱਪੜੇ, ਆਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਸੇਹਤ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖੇ। ਘਰ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜਰੂਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹੇ | ਪਰੀ ਦੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਨ ਕਰਨਾ. ਸੰਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਨੀ, ਵੱਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨਾ, ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕਰਤੱਵ ਹੈ ।

ਭਾਰਤੀ ਨਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਦਰਸ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਏਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਰੱਖੇ । ਸਭ ਦੇ ਗਿਲੇ, ਸ਼ਿੱਕਵੇ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹੀਨਤਾ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਾ ਰੱਖੋ । ਸਾਡੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੇਕ ਨਾਰੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ, ਮੁਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਆਦਿ ਪਦਾਂ ਤੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਭਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਸਵਤੰਤਰ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਮੰਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ । ਪੱਛਮੀ ਦੇਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ , ਨਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਲੰਬਾ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ ।

ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਨਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਸਭਿਅਤਾ ਦਾ ਬੜੀ ਤੇਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸ੍ਤਾਵ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਫੈਸਨ, ਸਿਨੇਮਾ, ਹੋਟਲ, ਨਾਚ ਦੀ ਤਰਫ਼ ਆਕਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ । ਨਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਗਲਾਂ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੀਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਜਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ । ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਨਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਸੀਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁਧ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਨਾਰੀ ਹੈ ।

This paper explores the feminist poetics of postcolonial Punjabi poetry, focusing specifically on Amrita Pritam and Nasreen Anjum Bhatti. Through a close reading of their poems, “Ajj aakhan Waris Shah nu” and “Nil karaiyan nilkan,” I argue that these progressive poets deployed the contestatory genre of Hir to critique the multiple patriarchies of nation, region and community. Their radical re-working of Hir’s voice attempts to de-center male authorial privilege in the Punjabi literary formation, constituting the regional vernacular as a potent site for engaging with tradition under modernity. Together, their poems offer a historiographical and literary reconstruction of cultural identity to locate women as active subjects and narrators of history.

Metaphor Variation in Englishes around the World, 2017

This study examines the notion of womanhood in the literary works of contemporary Indian authors by analyzing conceptual metaphors of womanhood. More specifically, the data collected in this study are metaphorical expressions (MEs) from nine fictional works set in India’s three main ethnically and linguistically diverse regions occupied by three linguistic groups, namely, the Indo-Aryan, the Dravidian, and the Tibeto-Burmese. The identification of MEs follows the Metaphor Identification Procedure VU University Amsterdam (MIPVU; Steen et al. 2010a). The analysis focuses on cross-cultural variation in conceptual metaphor, applying Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT; Lakoff & Johnson 1980) and the cognitive dimension of socio-cultural diversity proposed by Kövecses (2008). Through the analysis of conceptual metaphor, the paper provides insights into the current social context regarding the status and roles of women in India.

In an infamous interview at the Royal Geographic Society in 2011, V. S. Naipaul had, in denigration of women writers, said, “I read a piece of writing and within a paragraph or two I know whether it is by a woman or not.” If writing by a woman is so readily identifiable, what does it reveal about writing as a gendered act? What does it mean, then, to write like a woman? In order to write like a woman, is it sufficient to identify oneself as one? Does the woman writer as a category exist? This paper attempts to focus on the woman poet in Indian English Poetry, a genre largely marginalised within the history of IWE because of cultural scepticism regarding its ability to respond to the double challenge of proving its loyalties to the Indian cultural sensibility on the one hand and to the English language on the other. Asserting that the woman poet has always been an unignorable presence in the IEP canon, this paper hopes to establish the possibility of a distinct tradition of women poets within it. This paper compares the feminist trends in Pakistan with reference to two eminent Pakistani Urdu women poets’ autobiographies: Jo Rahee So Bekhabari Rahee (What Lingered Was a Trance) by Ada Jafri and Buri Aurat Ki Katha (The Tale of a Bad Woman) by Kishwar Naheed. The two women have been participating in mushairas (mixed poetry-recitation gatherings) for several decades now, but their sharing of public space with men has had different social and psychological impacts on the two writers. Ada Jafri’s narrative is devoid of negativity, criticism, protest, or reference to sexuality. Kishwar Naheed focuses on these very things. Ada Jafri has no claim of being a feminist and is rather apologetic about her weak voice of protest against the denial of human status to women in Pakistan. Kishwar Naheed identifies her voice as an extension of the female voices all over the world and throughout history, blurring the boundaries of time and space in asserting her womanhood. However, some commonalities oblige us to re-examine their differences at a deeper level only to find out that in spite of the mental distance between them, at some level they are very similar. This also leads us to conjecture that the Pakistani feminism is probably a different kind of construct from what it can be perceived in the perspective of western feminism.

This essay aims at understanding the development and struggles of a ‘female voice’ within Urdu poetic tradition through the writings of women poets of the Nineteenth century in contrast to the women poets of the twentieth-century feminist movement. The women in traditional Urdu poetry have remained a silent cruel beloved, the image offered is that of a ‘feckless beloved, endowed with heavenly beauty, reigned: fair to face, doe-eyed, dark hair, tall and willowy, a woman who vacillated from indifference, shyness and modesty to wanton cruelty. The essay is an attempt to understand the level of autonomy of the female voice in the poems of women poets through the years. To portray the development of a feminine expression in Urdu poetry the paper will be ranging from the poems of tawaifs (courtesan) of the eighteenth century like Mah Laqa Chanda, their attempts to acquire a place within the patrilineal Urdu literary tradition; the rekhti tradition where men wrote poems in a female voice, ...

This paper explores the notions of " articulation, " " agency " and " embodiment " in Urdu poetry composed by Pakistani women. Although these terms have been taken from the First world feminist discourses, we aim to highlight how these three terms were not merely reflected in the contemporary poetry of Pakistani women, but rather were used to express their own modalities and associations as they countered the patriarchal system within which they were embedded. Our study does not simply apply these terms on selected poems by Kishwar Naheed (1940-), Fehmeeda Riaz (1946-) and Azra Abbas (1948-), but it also explores how these terms undergo a discursive diffraction as the Pakistani woman is no longer seen as a subaltern entity with a silenced subjectivity. We have taken on board the synonymic idea of writing as an agentive act of embodiment, as theorised by Luce Irigaray and Hélène Cixous. This is to show that while these terms were theorised by Western feminists, contemporary Pakistani women writers have, over the last few decades, been enacting these terms in ways which deny the stereotypical projection of the Third world woman in the Western gender discourses. For these women writers, writing enacts embodiment through articulation and thus agentively counters the objectifying gaze of the patriarchal order.

Today, many assorted Indian women poets are examining the character of form in modern poetry. They require to be spoken about and their work accordingly showcased. Transforming Narratives: Pioneering female influences in Punjabi literature

The role of women in Punjab i literature evolved with the evolution of the region, Khalsa Vox reported. This piece, penned by Khalsa Vox, explores the path of women's representation in Punjab i literature , starting with the enduring figure of Heer and ending with today's ground-breaking female authors. While we continue to concentrate on the achievements of female writers in Punjab , it is crucial to acknowledge the significant contributions made by women throughout the entire Punjab i-speaking globe. Dalip Kaur Tiwana : A renowned Punjab i author who won the Sahitya Akademi Award for her novel ‘Ek Hai Dunia’. Her works chiefly revolve around human relationships and socioeconomic disparities. Kishwar Desai : An acclaimed author, her writing is marked by social issues, partition narratives, and gender discrimination. Her debut novel ‘Witness the Night’ won the Costa Book Award. Nirupama Dutt : She writes poems in Punjab i, and translates them into English herself. A senior journalist with 40 years of experience, she has worked with leading Indian newspapers and journals. Shauna Singh Baldwin : Her first work of fiction, English Lessons and Other Stories won the 1996 Friends of American Writers Award. Her short story Satya won the 1997 CBC Literary Award. Amrita Pritam : Celebrated 20th-century Punjab i poet, novelist, and essayist, notable for her poignant writings on the partition of India. Her most famous work is the poem “Aj Aakhan Waris Shah Nu.” Women have been instrumental in forming the Punjab i literary landscape, from the famous Heer to today's trailblazing female authors. Through their compelling fiction and provocative poetry, these authors have questioned societal expectations and given women's experiences throughout generations a voice. Their accomplishments demonstrate the fortitude and inventiveness of women in Punjab i writing and encourage upcoming generations to keep breaking limits and exploring new horizons, Khalsa Vox reported. Punjab: Woman alleges assault and rape by neighbour in Hoshiarpur

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted and raped, and her nine-year-old son was also attacked by a neighbour at a village here on September 19, police said on Tuesday.

ASI Sarbjit Singh said the accused Jaskaran Singh allegedly entered the woman’s house on the night of September 19 and attacked the woman and her son with a sharp-edged weapon while they were asleep.

After the assault, the accused allegedly raped the woman, the police informed.

The ASI mentioned that both the victims were taken to a hospital for treatment. “The woman had suffered serious head injuries. She was further referred to a hospital in Jalandhar for treatment,” he said.

An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of rape, grievous hurt, house trespass, and attempted murder.

The police said raids were being conducted to arrest Jaskaran.

26 ਜਨਵਰੀ ਗਣਤੰਤਰ ਦਿਵਸ ਤੇ ਲੇਖ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ

15 ਅਗਸਤ, 1947 ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਲਾਮੀ ਤੋਂ ਅਜ਼ਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਲੋੜ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਬਣਾਈ ਜਾਵੇ। ਇਸ ਸੋਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਬਣਾਈ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਸਭਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਜੋ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ 26 ਜਨਵਰੀ, 1950 ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਗਣਤੰਤਰ ਰਾਜ (Republic) ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਾਜ ਇਸ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

26 ਜਨਵਰੀ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਬੜੀ ਧੂਮਧਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੁੱਖ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਜੇ ਚੌਂਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਝੰਡਾ ਲਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਝੰਡਾ ਲਹਿਰਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਦਸਤਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਲਾਮੀ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਘੋੜ ਸਵਾਰ, ਊਠ ਸਵਾਰ ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਰੰਗ ਬਰੰਗੀਆਂ ਫ਼ੌਜੀ ਵਰਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਪਰੇਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਸਕੂਲ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਪਰੇਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਚਾਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਤਿਰੰਗੇ ਝੰਡੇ ਲਹਿਰਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਸ ਨਜ਼ਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਭਾਰਤਵਾਸੀ ਰੇਡੀਓ ਅਤੇ ਟੀ. ਵੀ. ਤੋਂ ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦਾ ਨਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠੇ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਇਹ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਬੜੀ ਧੂਮਧਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ, ਮੁੱਖ-ਮੰਤਰੀ, ਮੰਤਰੀ, ਡੀ. ਸੀ., ਐਸ. ਡੀ. ਐਮ. ਆਦਿ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਪਰੇਡ ਤੋਂ ਸਲਾਮੀ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
